Man arrested in attack on 15-year-old Chicago girl

CHICAGO – Chicago authorities said a 25-year-old man has been charged in last month’s brutal beating and sexual assault of a teen-age girl on the city’s northwest side.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said Luis Pantoja is charged with attempted murder and sexual assault in an attack on a 15-year-old girl on the morning of Dec. 17.

Authorities said he was arrested Friday and was expected to appear in court later Sunday. Police planned to release more details at a news conference

A resident going outside to sweep snow found the girl lying in a pool of blood with her pants and shoes off in his backyard in the city’s Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.

Authorities have said the girl suffered severe head injuries, but was able to communicate last week.
