Prep roundup: Sycamore splits pair of dual matches

Sycamore wrestling split a pair of dual matches at Harvard on Friday. Sycamore defeated Wauconda, 49-30, and fell to Harvard, 33-30.

Brian Johnston, Austin Armstrong and Tyler Barton all won by pin while Jesus Renteria was victorious by major decision against Wauconda.

Johnston won by pin again against Harvard while Michael Ernster, Chris Malone, Logan Mathey and Barton all recroded victories by decision. Kyle Akins won by technical fall.

Kaneland goes 2-1 at Richmond-Burton: Kaneland went 2-1 in three matches at the Richmond-Burton quad. The Knights defeated Woodstock, 36-22, lost to Mundelein, 48-16, and defeated the host Rockets, 39-16.

Austin Parks and Tom Price recorded pins against Mundelein while Matthew Redman won by major decision. Price also won by pin in his match against Richmond-Burton.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Newark edges H-BR: Hinckley-Big Rock fell to Newark, 39-34, at home. The Royals play at Lisle on Monday.

Sycamore tops Ottawa: Sycamore defeated Ottawa, 3,589-3,369, in a Northern Illinois Big 12 matchup.

Lucas Wright rolled a 668 series, including a 278 high game for the Spartans.
