Heartland Blood Centers holds January drives

In celebration of January National Blood Donor Month, Heartland Blood Centers, an independent nonprofit blood center serving 49 hospitals in a 12-county region in Illinois and Indiana, invites all healthy members of the community to share their good health through blood donation. 

January is typically the highest transfusion month of the year as patients who can delay their non-emergency surgeries and treatments do so until after the holidays. Heartland Blood Centers of DeKalb will hold several blood drives in January.

Fifth Third Bank in DeKalb is sponsoring a blood drive from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday at 2707 Sycamore Road, in the Heartland Mobile Coach. To schedule a donation, please contact Joe Elliott at 815-748-5000 or sign up online at www.heartlandbc.org. Walk-Ins are welcome and all donors will receive a $5 Panera gift card as a thank-you.

First United Methodist Church – Hampshire is sponsoring a blood drive from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 207 Grove St., Hampshire, in the Heartland Mobile Coach. To schedule a donation, call 847-683-2598 or sign up online at www.heartlandbc.org. All donors will receive a $5 Panera gift card as a thank-you.

Hy-Vee is sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 2700 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, in the Heartland Mobile Coach. To schedule a donation, call 815-758-8995 or sign up online at www.heartlandbc.org. Walk-ins are welcome. A photo ID is required. All donors will receive a $5 Hy-Vee gift card as a thank-you.
