CHICAGO – The suburban Chicago boyfriend of a pregnant teenager fatally shot on Christmas Day and his brother will stay in jail after they were charged with first-degree murder in the death.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that bail was denied at a Sunday hearing for the boyfriend, 16-year-old Anthony Lee, and his brother, 21-year-old Diante Lamont Coakley. Both are from Dolton.

Eva Casara, of Calumet City, was shot on Christmas Day and pronounced dead early the next day. The 17-year-old’s baby survived and remains in a local hospital.

Prosecutors provided more detail on the shooting Sunday. They allege Casara was shot as someone Lee and Coakley were trying to rob drove off with the pregnant teenager inside the car.
