CHICAGO – Gov. Pat Quinn has named seven people to a panel that will review applications for permits to carry concealed firearms.
The Chicago Democrat appointed members of the Concealed Carry Licensing Review Board Friday. The board will consider any objections of an applicant’s eligibility for a permit filed by the Illinois State Police or local law enforcement agency.
The Illinois Legislature approved the law allowing public possession of guns earlier this year, after a federal judge ordered the state to do so.
The law requires the formation of the licensing review board. It says members should come from across the state and have judicial, legal, mental health and investigative experience.
