ROUNDUP: Gilbert hits 10 3-pointers in Sycamore’s win

Sycamore girls basketball dominated West Chicago, 52-21. Junior wing Bailey Gilbert set a tournament record with 10 3-pointers and scored 34 points.

“It was a fun game to coach and we played very well from the beginning to the end,” Sycamore coach Brett Goff said.

The Spartans play Proviso East in the semifinals today.

DeKalb falls: DeKalb lost to Proviso West, 38-35, in the Barbs’ second game of the Montini Christmas tournament.

Indian Creek gets win: Indian Creek defeated Marquette Academy, 50-34, in the Amboy tournament.

Samantha Mosley had 11 points while Josie Diehl had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Royals split: Hinckley-Big Rock lost to Riverdale, 53-50, but also defeated Hall, 48-32, at the Prophetstown tournament.

The Royals play LaSalle-Peru at 3 p.m. today.

BOYS BASKETBALL

DeKalb loses: DeKalb fell to Winnebago, 73-63, in the Chuck Dayton tournament.

DeKalb will play Geneseo at noon today.

G-K falls: Genoa-Kingston lost to Aurora Christian, 61-44, in the Cogs’ first game of the Plano Christmas Classic. Eli Thurlby scored 10 points to lead G-K while Tommy Hansen had eight points and four rebounds.

The Cogs will play Kaneland at 2 p.m. today.

Royals top Lisle: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Lisle, 47-39, at the Plano Christmas Classic. Eric Phillips had 16 points and three assists while Dutch Schneeman scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds.

The Royals outscored Lisle, 20-4, in the second quarter and maintained a lead throughout the second half.

Indian Creek downs Prince-ton: Indian Creek defeated Princeton, 58-34, at the Plano Christmas Classic.

Garrison Govig led the Timberwolves with 15 points and pulled down six rebounds while Garrett Post had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

BOYS BOWLING

DeKalb places third: DeKalb took third place at the East Invite.

GIRLS BOWLING

Barbs take 14th: DeKalb took 14th out of 30 teams at the Plainfield South Holiday Invite.

Maddy Jouris led the Barbs with a 637 series, including all three games in the 200’s to place sixth overall out of 150 bowlers. Abby Kuzmanich bowled a 559 series with a high game of 215 while Edith Reynolds bowled a 526 series. Taylor Mershon bowled a 230 game for the Barbs as well.

“We averaged 178-plus in team competition – exceeding our rising weekly target of a 175 average. We will be rolling for a 185 average in January’s Invite at Sycamore – trying to reach 190 by regionals,” DeKalb coach Bill Holland said. “I am impressed with the consistency and high scores that Maddy Jouris brings to every practice and competition.”
