Cause of Tuesday’s fire undetermined

DeKALB – Authorities are unsure what sparked the fire in a bedroom closet that caused $75,000 in damage Tuesday to a home at 3403 N. First St. in DeKalb.

DeKalb fire officials, as well as personnel from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Office of the State Fire Marshal, were unable to rule out an electrical fixture or system as the fire’s cause, officials said Thursday. Crews put out the fire in the second-floor bedroom in about 15 minutes after receiving a call about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported in the fire, and the cat initially reported lost was found and returned to the owner unharmed.
