Police: Driver fell asleep at the wheel

SYCAMORE – A 30-year-old Sycamore man who fell asleep while driving about 7 a.m. Tuesday crashed into the end of a guardrail west of Peace Road on Route 64 in Sycamore, authorities said.

The driver, Joshua A. Anderson, of the 1700 block of Brickville Road, was not injured, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Police said Anderson was driving a 2014 black Ford Mustang east on Route 64 when he fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway, the release states.

Anderson was charged with trying to leave the scene of the accident on foot back to his residence, according to the news release. The car was in a ditch for at least an hour while officers investigated the crash.
