Northern Illinois men’s basketball was able to overcome a poor first half to rally for a 55-49 win Wednesday on the road over Loyola in Chicago.

A three-point play from Darrell Bowie and ensuing 3-pointer by Travon Baker gave the Huskies (4-5) a five-point lead with a minute left and NIU held on down the stretch to win its fourth game of the season. The Huskies won only five games each of the past two years.

The Huskies scored only 14 points in the first half and trailed, 28-14, at halftime. NIU slowly chipped away at the lead and its defense picked up, holding Loyola to only 21 points after halftime.

Travon Baker led the Huskies with 14 points and was one of four Huskies to score in double figures.
