DeKalb man charged in fight posts bail

DeKALB – One of three men allegedly who allegedly used a crowbar or similar object Dec. 1 to beat a man was bailed out of jail Thursday.

Devin R. Taylor, 20, of the 800 block of N. 11th St., DeKalb, was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery and mob action. He posted the necessary $600 bail to be released from jail while charges are pending.

Taylor was allegedly involved in an altercation with a man at about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the 700 block of Leonard Ave., DeKalb, and recruited two other suspects, court records show. Suspects hit the victim in the head with a crowbar-type object and kicked and punched him several times in 700 block Leonard Avenue, court records show.

The victim was treated at Kishwaukee Hospital for the cuts on his head and bruises, said DeKalb police Lt. Bob Redel. DeKalb police still are working to identify the other two suspects involved, Redel said.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Taylor could face up to five years in prison. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 22.
