Motor development program for children

Published: Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 4:59 p.m. CDT

A motor development program for young children between the ages of 3 and 10 will be offered at Northern Illinois University from Feb. 10 through April 9.

This program offers young children the chance to engage in developmentally-appropriate and professionally-guided physical activity to develop coordination. Children will also have fun, learn movement concepts, develop motor skills and rhythm, enhance brain development and memory and prevent obesity.

The program is directed by Dr. Clersida Garcia, a specialist in motor development and pedagogy. The program runs from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for eight weeks, and the fee is $80 per term.
