Genoa-Kingston girls basketball picks up win

Published: Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

The Genoa-Kingston girls basketball team moved closer to .500 with a 35-26 win over Pecatonica in the first game of the Pecatonica Holiday Tournament.

Andrea Strohmaier led the Cogs with 16 points while Julie Galauner had six points.

“We’re still looking to put together a complete game,” G-K coach Kyle Henkel said. “We had a strong fourth quarter defensively that led to some easy baskets. We hit our free throws in the end which is key.”

The Cogs (5-6) play Dakota at 6 p.m. today in the next set of games during the round-robin tournament.
