Snow could affect afternoon commute

The National Weather Service says a quick burst of potentially heavy snowfall could affect the afternoon commute today.

According to a special weather statement issued by the service, a fast-moving burst of what could amount to two inches of snow will hit the Rockford area by 1 p.m. and move southeast, hitting the DeKalb area.

The most intense snow may only last two or three hours, but will be enough to accumulate and make for a potentially messy afternoon commute.
