DeKALB – A 27-year-old DeKalb man accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old family member and having pornographic images of her and other children was in jail Monday on $1 million bond.

Robert E. Aldape, of the 700 block of Kimberly Drive, faces charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and unlawful possession of child pornography. Police believe the abuse has been going for at least a year, DeKalb police Lt. Bob Redel said.

Aldape allegedly shared a pornographic photograph of the girl with an undercover police officer, Redel said.

The Sycamore Police Department conducted an undercover online investigation through the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children task force this month, working with the Cook County Sheriff's Department, FBI and DeKalb police, according to a news release.

When police searched Aldape's home Friday, they found at least 10 images and videos of child pornography, Redel said. Police are still investigating to see what Aldape has in his computer, Redel said.

Police do not believe there are more victims, but they are still investigating, Redel said.

Each criminal charge Aldape faces is punishable by between six and 30 years in prison. His next court date is Jan. 7.
