Justin D. Swanson, 18, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with a Nov. 11 incident involving a 14-year-old girl.

WATERMAN – An 18-year-old Lee man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last month in rural Waterman has asked a judge to reduce his bond.

Justin D. Swanson, of the 1300 block of Woodlawn Road, was charged Monday with aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Bond for Swanson is set at $300,000, meaning he would have to post $30,000 bail to be released from jail.

According to court records, Swanson is accused of raping the girl and punching and slapping her.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Swanson would be sentenced to between six and 30 years in prison, probation would not be an option. He also would be required to register as a sex offender for life. He is not allowed to contact the victim while charges are pending.

A DeKalb County judge will hear the request Thursday.
