DeKALB - DeKalb is filled with warm, friendly faces, but the people behind many of them can’t afford a warm holiday meal. Others have no family nearby and are spending the holiday season alone.

Flippin Eggs on South Fourth Street in DeKalb will open its doors on Saturday, Dec. 21 for its eighth annual free community holiday dinner. The dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m.

Traditionally, each attendee at the dinner is given a wrapped gift. To make this possible, Flippin Eggs is asking the community to donate wrapped gifts before the dinner. Volunteers also are appreciated. Monetary gifts will not be accepted, but gift cards may be. Indicate on the gift if it is for a boy, girl, man or woman, and size or age range if necessary.

Anyone who could benefit from the dinner is invited to attend. Leftover food and gifts are donated to local charities.
