Federated Church members preparing for Christmas

Published: Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

Carolers from The Federated Church in Sycamore will visit Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center and the DeKalb County Nursing & Rehab Center today to share some Christmas spirit with the residents there.

Singers will wander the hallways and stop by cafeterias to lend cheer and invite residents to sing along.

On Sunday, the congregation will continue its celebration of the upcoming Christmas season with the “Hanging of the Greens” during the 10 a.m. worship service. Continuing a long-standing tradition of family participation in worship, the second of four Advent candles will be lit by a Federated family.

After worship, there will be an Advent Workshop. Lunch will be provided, then kids of all ages will participate in holiday craft centers set up around the Fellowship Hall.

Federated Church is located at 612 W. State St. in Sycamore.
