DeKALB – Northern Illinois University’s Student Involvement & Leadership Development organizers are looking for one-day projects for student volunteers.

On April 12, student volunteers will be transported to sites around DeKalb County to complete volunteer projects for community agencies, nonprofit organizations and local residents to thank the community for supporting NIU, according to a news release. Dubbed NIU Cares, the program has included planting, painting, sorting, assisting with events and similar maintenance tasks.

Local organizations can request volunteer help through an online application at niucaresday.niu.edu. The priority deadline is Jan. 24, but early registration is encouraged. For information, contact Destiny McDonald at 815-753-6511 or dmcdonald@niu.edu.
