Superheroes for Dylan benefit on Friday

A benefit for 3-year-old Dylan Carey will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Open Range Grill, 1 Golfview Lane in Sugar Grove. Dylan Carey, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in July.

Dylan is the son Tim and Chris (Bateman) Carey and little brother of Gavin. His mother Chris grew up in Elburn and his father, grew up in Rochelle and has served for more than seven years as a volunteer firefighter in Shabbona and is employed by the city of West Chicago. 

Dylan underwent successful surgery to remove the tumor, but further testing showed that the cancer had spread to his bone marrow. He now is preparing for a bone marrow transplant.

Tickets for the Superhero “Super D” fundraiser cost $20 each. The event will include a pig roast, hamburgers, hot dogs and sides, a cash bar and entertainment proviede by the country band Back Country Roads. There also will be a photo booth, a caricature artist, Super D shirts for sale and lots of raffle and silent auction items.
