History museum to host holiday party

Published: Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 1:35 p.m. CDT

For the fifth year, the Sycamore History Museum is saying thank you to the community with a free Holiday Open House. The afternoon will include tours of the award-winning “Play: Stories, Mementos and Fun” exhibit, crafts, hot chocolate and cookies.

“The Sycamore community is so supportive of the Sycamore History Museum. To show our appreciation, we are opening our doors to all for free,” museum executive director Michelle Donahoe said in a news release. “The new exhibit, children’s hands-on room, sugar cookie decorating, and hot chocolate make for a fun family tradition. Since it is free, there is really no reason to not stop by.”

This year, the museum is also giving back to the community in another way. One of the activities will be decorating Christmas greens, which will be delivered to local retirement and nursing homes.

The Sycamore History Museum is located at 1730 N. Main St. The Holiday Open House is 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information visit www.sycamorehistory.org or call 815-895-5762.
