Semi overturns on Plank Road

Published: Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 5:33 p.m. CST

DeKALB – A semi-truck carrying crushed automobiles overturned about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when the driver rode too fast near a bend at Plank Road, said Gary Dumdie, chief deputy of DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

The overturn caused some crushed automobiles enclosed in the trailer to spill onto the roadway, but no injuries or further accidents were reported, Dumdie said. The incident happened northeast of Sycamore near Moose Range Road.

The road was closed for about 5 hours.

Westbound traffic was diverted north onto Moose Range Road, Whipple Road then to Route 23. Eastbound traffic was diverted to Lindgren Road, east to Lukens Road then north to Plank Road.

DeKalb County sheriff's police will weigh the semi-truck to determine whether it was legally allowed to drive on the road, Dumdie said.
