Letter: Spartan pride showed all football season

To the Editor:

Our hometown pride was evident in the support of the Sycamore Spartans football team.

Thousands of fans supported the team this season and hundreds traveled to the road playoff games.

It was heartwarming to see the community come together as the team racked up victories. Special thanks to all who made this an amazingly memorable season: The players, coaches, staff, students, parents, fans, community members, local businesses and media outlets. Without everyone’s support, we would not be Sycamore Strong.

We are a hometown and very proud of it. The Northern Illinois Big 12 East Division champions team’s last-minute Pumpkin-fest parade entry, the WLBK-AM Pep Rally, ‘Go Spartans’ signs all over town, the semi-final game send off, police escorts and the season-end celebration sponsored by Sycamore Sports Boosters were all undeniable signs of the love the Sycamore community has for our kids.

A lady at church told me “ You tell those boys how proud we all are or them.” That sums it up for me.  Thank you to the Sycamore Spartan Football team for representing our community so well this year.

As the Spartans marched into and out of the Montini game two-by-two, hand-in-hand, we witnessed a display of strength and team dedication that was unprecedented. Thank you to Coach Joe Ryan and the Sycamore School District for building a class act both on and off of the field. I speak for many when I say “I’m proud to be a Spartan fan and parent.”
