PR Productions offers free holiday show

The Herdmans are visiting this Christmas season and funnier than ever in PR Productions’ presentation of the perennial holiday favorite, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”

The show runs Dec. 12 through 15 at Plano Christian Church, 9 Schomer Lane in Plano. Show times are at 7 p.m. Dec.12, 13 and 14 and 3 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15.

The production is free to the public and is sponsored by Plano Christian Church together with PR Productions. A free-will offering will be accepted. To make seat reservations, visit www.wewantpr.com. Seats will be available at the door, based only on availability.

The Herdman kids – Ralph, Imogene, Claude, Ollie and Gladys – are “the worst kids in the whole history of the world!” They eat doughnuts that were bought for the firemen, write dirty words on the bathroom wall and put tadpoles in the church’s drinking fountain. So naturally, the whole town is horrified when they hear the Herdmans are starring in the annual Christmas pageant.

As predicted, disaster strikes as rehearsals begin. The Herdmans are initiating fights, saying bad words in church – they are even accused of starting a small fire. When the big day arrives, the whole town shows up just to see what the Herdmans will do this time.

To everyone’s surprise, the Herdmans – experiencing the magic of the Christmas story for the first time – rise to the occasion, defy expectations, and make this year’s show the best Christmas pageant ever.

“I began in theater in this production when I was a kid,” director Kris Pagoria said in a news release. “The show is laugh-out-loud funny, and then surprises you with tremendous heart.”

The cast includes 25 residents from Sandwich, Plano, Yorkville, Somonauk, Aurora, Sycamore and Millington.

Performances also will feature Christmas carols throughout, some presented as audience sing-along if desired, as well as pre-show and intermission entertainment by the Lamplight Singers.
