DeKalb park board appoints search liaison

DeKALB – Scott deOliveira, who serves as the DeKalb Park District’s marketing coordinator and manager of the Hopkins Park Community Center, is wearing another hat.

DeOliveira will serve as the liaison between park district commissioners and the firm hired to search for a new executive director, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates.

“We wanted to pick a primary contact person from the staff, and the most important job will be working with Hazard Young,” said board President Phil Young.

Commissioners appointed deOliveira to that role at their Monday meeting.

“The search firm requested that one person be designated as the point of contact,” deOliveira said.

The board plans a special meeting Tuesday with representatives of the search firm to coordinate a timeline for the search process, Young said. Once a schedule is established, Young expects the search will take about 10 weeks.

“We are looking for input from the public as to their view of what the executive director should be,” Young said.

“More will be defined next week as far as the next steps on the process,” deOliveira said.

Lisa Small has been serving as the district’s interim executive director since the resignation of Cindy Capek in June.
