Former Kish women's basketball player transfers to Wisconsin

Rosie Gambino, a 6-foot-4 center from Oswego, has signed to play women’s basketball at the University of Wisconsin beginning in 2014, Wisconsin coach Bobbie Kelsey announced Tuesday.

Gambino spent two seasons playing at Kishwaukee College and initially transferred to Iowa State, but left before playing a game. She will have to sit out a year and will be eligible in December 2014.

Gambino played in 69 games for the Kishwaukee Kougars, setting the career blocking record. Gambino set the single-game blocking record with 11 and the single-season blocking record with 109.

Gambino averaged 3.9 points and 4.3 rebounds a game as a sophomore and 4.9 points and 5.0 rebounds a game as a freshman. She was also a two-time academic all-conference honoree.
