Benefit dinner planned for local man

A spaghetti dinner benefit for Greg Dorwaldt of DeKalb will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore. An auction will start at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person and can be purchased in advance or at the door.

Dorwaldt was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on Oct. 23. The cancer is rapidly progressing. Greg and his wife, Phyllis Dorwaldt (Talley-Garcia), reside in DeKalb and are formerly of South Elgin. He is a father and grandfather, and has been a truck driver for many years. Greg has one son, Tony Dorwaldt (Kristin Schwarz) of Rochelle, and a stepson, Justin Talley (Michelle) of Sycamore. Greg and Phyllis are spending this time together unable to work and need support of family, friends and the community. Proceeds from the benefit will go toward medical and related expenses.
