Sandwich man accused of damaging holding cell

SANDWICH – A 20-year-old Sandwich man damaged plastic panels and tore up a blanket at the Sandwich Police Department after he was charged with underage drinking, authorities said.

Curtis M. Walker, of the 400 block of Lisbon Street, initially was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol and resisting a police officer in Kendall County, court records show.

While being booked at the Sandwich Police Department, Walker pulled away from officers and began to hit his head on plastic panels, court records show. As officers restrained Walker, a Sandwich officer received several scratches and scrapes on his left arm, court records show.

Sandwich police added a charge of criminal damage to government-supported property, a felony typically punishable by up to five years in prison.

Presiding Judge Robbin Stuckert required that Walker seek an alcohol assessment and set his bond at $2,000.
