Tornado watch in effect until 4 p.m.

A tornado watch is in effect for DeKalb County and virtually all of Illinois until 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area this morning that could include damaging wind gusts of 75 mph, quarter-sized hail and possibly tornadoes.

DeKalb County also is under a wind advisory until 8 p.m. Be certain any loose items susceptible to high winds are secured. Use precaution and take cover if weather becomes more severe.
