FUMC youth prepare turkey dinner

Published: Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

The annual Turkey Dinner and Silent Auction provided by the children and youth of First United Methodist Church of DeKalb, 321 Oak St., will be held Sunday.

The children work hard all day Saturday and Sunday to provide a turkey meal with all the fixings for both church members and the community.

Dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with winners from the silent auction announced at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. Tickets are available at the church office. Proceeds from this event will go toward transportation cost and scholarships for Vacation Bible School in the summer.

Through the generous donations of church members, there are several donated tickets to be given to community members in need. They will be given away at a first-come, first-served basis. They are available in the church’s main office between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

For more information, calling the church at 815-756-6301 or visit www.firstumc.net.
