Celebration Chorale sets holiday cantata

Published: Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

Celebration Chorale will present its Christmas cantata, “In the Fullness of Time: A Christmas Celebration of Emmanuel’s Coming,” at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7. Both performances will be at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak St. in DeKalb.

The chorale will be under the direction of Christine Monteiro and will feature a small orchestra and a choir that overflows the choir loft. The program will be a narrated drama of a grandmother and grandchild reflecting on Christmas. There will be holiday favorites and songs that reflect the spirit of the story.

Though the Celebration Chorale is a mission of the First United Methodist Church of DeKalb, the musicians come from throughout the community and include professionals and amateurs of all ages.

“We perform out of our love of music, for the camaraderie with a wide range of people, and to share God’s love in song,” longtime member Tracey Busby said in a news release.

There will be a free-will offering, but the program is free, and all are welcome. There will be refreshments after the performance in Fellowship Hall.
