Temperatures should bottom out to about 20 degrees tonight according to the National Weather Service as snowfall hit Monday afternoon.
The first sign of winter came Monday in DeKalb, when rain changed over to snow in the afternoon and will continue to fall into the early evening. Visibility could fall to less than a mile at times, and some snow accumulation of up to a half-inch is possible in grassy areas, according to the NWS.
Slick spots could develop on area roadways late this afternoon and evening when the temperature dips below freezing and wet surfaces refreeze.
Tuesday's forecast is sunny with a high near 31.
