Barrie Gordon, senior lecturer at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, and visiting Fulbright Scholar, will present a talk titled “Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility through Physical Education: The New Zealand Experience” at 4 p.m. Thursday in Room 305 of the Holmes Student Center. Light refreshments will be available starting at 3:30 p.m.
Gordon’s presentation will focus on three research projects completed within New Zealand secondary schools. His major area of interest is physical education pedagogy and in particular the use of physical education and sport as contexts for positive socialization.
Gordon is currently based at Northern Illinois University as a Fulbright Scholar where he is researching the TPSR model as applied in afterschool sport-based programs for underserved students.
