Letter: Encourage more recycling at Pumpkin Run

Published: Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

The author of a previous letter to the editor commented on the false promises of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce to host a “green” 10K race.

I, too, was very pleased when the announcement came in 2012 saying that the race was going green – yet dismayed to see very little “green-ness” at the actual race.

This year was even worse. Seems as if someone on the planning committee had a great idea but others did not buy into it. I encourage the race organizers – and the participants – to get behind the original plan of reducing consumption of plastic, and increasing recycling at this large annual event.
