Hinckley-Big Rock girls volleyball advances to final

The Hinckley-Big Rock girls volleyball team defeated Leland-Earlville, 25-18, 25-10, in the Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Regional semifinals.

The Royals advance to play Newark in Thursday’s final.

Lauren Paver finished with 13 kills and five digs for H-BR, while Jacqueline Madden added eight kills and three aces and Karrigan Cowan finished with five kills and a block. Caitlyn Flanigan added five digs for the Royals.

Cogs move on to final: Genoa-Kingston defeated St. Edward 14-25, 26-24, 30-28 in the Class 3A G-K Regional semifinals.

The Cogs move on to Thursday’s final, where they will face Big Northern East foe Burlington Central.

Timberwolves eliminated: Sterling Newman defeated Indian Creek, 25-19, 25-17, at the Class 1A Paw Paw Regional.

Rebekah Goodrich had three kills and two aces for the Timberwolves, while Emma Goodrich finished with five kills and four digs for Indian Creek, which finishes the season at 13-21.

Bailey Martenson added 10 digs for the Timberwolves while Josie Diehl finished with six kills.

Kayla Kauffman had four aces.

Alex Turner had 12 assists, and Rebekka Boehne finished with nine assists.
