NIU student accused of dealing pot

DeKALB – An Northern Illinois University student found with 2.6 ounces of marijuana in his dorm room is next due in DeKalb County court Nov. 13.

Philemon Bromby, 18, of the 1100 block of Stadium Drive in DeKalb, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver it on school grounds, which is a felony typically punishable with probation or up to five years in prison. He was released from jail Friday on his own recognizance.

NIU police received Bromby’s consent to search his room Thursday night after receiving an anonymous tip, court documents show. Police found about 74 grams, or 2.6 ounces, of marijuana packaged in plastic bags and in jars, court records show. Bromby told police he had been selling marijuana, court records show.
