Sycamore and Montini are set on a collision course.

Perennial playoff rivals, Sycamore and Montini grabbed the top two seeds in the northern half of the Illinois High School Association Class 5A bracket. The soonest the two teams could meet would be the state semifinals if the bracket seeds hold true.

For the first time, the IHSA state finals will be held at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern Illinois University.

Sycamore fell to Montini, 24-22, in the second round of last year's playoffs.

Genoa-Kingston and DeKalb both qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2010 based on their strength of schedule. The cutoff for 5-4 teams was 35 opponents' wins. The Cogs had 45 while the Barbs were safely in at 44.

DeKalb was placed in Class 6A and will face 8-1 Batavia in the first round. The Barbs and Bulldogs were both members of the former Western Sun Conference. G-K was placed in Class 4A and will play 8-1 Geneseo in the first round.

Kaneland, which lost to Sycamore in Week 8, received the No. 5 seed in the northern half of the Class 5A bracket and will play Hampshire (6-3) in the first round.

The official dates and times of all playoff games will be released on Monday.
