Ye goes 5-2 in state tourney

Sycamore sophomore Angelina Ye won another two matches on the second day of the girls tennis state tournament before losing in the sixth round of the consolation bracket on Friday.

After winning her last three matches Thursday, Ye easily took care of Timothy Christian’s McKenna Byrne and Sacred Heart-Griffin’s Laura Seadler to start Friday, losing a combined three games in her two straight-set victories.

Ye lost, 6-2, 6-4, to Stevenson’s Zoe Manion, ending the tournament with a record of 5-2.

Kaneland’s Sammie Schrepferman lost in the fourth round of the consolation bracket, compiling a 3-2 record over the two days.

The Knights’ doubles team of Jelly Emmanouil and Madi Jurcenko won their first match Friday before being knocked out in the fifth round of the consolation bracket, finishing with a 4-2 record.
