Registration still open for November ball

Published: Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 11:34 a.m. CDT

Registration is still open for November Splendor, a pair of big band dances scheduled for Nov. 9 and 10 in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at Northern Illinois University.

Registration closes at 9 a.m. Friday, and after which no food orders will be accepted. Registration provides table reservation, food option and tickets to the dance party. The cost is $65 per person for dinner and dancing, and $30 per person for dancing only. Seats are limited. Package deals are available.

Duke Ellington’s jazz, big band, show, dance and elegant legacy is incorporated in this town-gown event. There will be a dance Saturday night and a dance Sunday morning. The 13,000-square-foot dance floor will be open to dancers, or balcony seats will be available for “listen only” fans of big band music. Balcony seats are not available in advance.

“It is a great opportunity for our communities to enjoy a pre-holiday party in the spirit of ‘town-gown’ relations,” John D. Smith, president of Just Make It Happen Productions, said in a news release.
