Police: Pot dealer caught on Lucinda Avenue

DeKALB – A Chicago man faces felony charges after police caught him preparing to smoke marijuana he had just sold to a group of people about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, court records show.

Fredrick Dennis, 18, of the 2200 block of South Central Park Avenue, had about 20 grams, or 0.7 ounces, of marijuana divided among 24 bags in a bottle, a bag in a cigar wrapper and a bag found on the floor, court records show. After police found him in a home in the 800 block of Lucinda Avenue, Dennis admitted selling the group a bag of marijuana, court records show.

Dennis also told police he planned to sell the rest of the marijuana they found and that he was a member of a Chicago gang, court records show. Police took the $207 he had on his person.

He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of marijuana, court records show. The most serious charge typically is punishable with up to five years in prison.

Dennis remained in DeKalb County Jail on Friday, unable to post 10 percent of his $3,000 bond. His next court date is Nov. 12.
