LIVE It Up conference offered for teens

The University of Illinois Extension will host an event for teens called LIVE It Up (LIVE stands for Lead, Inspire, Value and Explore. This leadership conference is open to all students in eighth grade to age 18. The conference will focus on leadership, personal development and community service.

LIVE It Up will be held Nov. 22 and 23. On Friday night, the conference will begin with registration from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Northern Illinois University Holmes Student Center. After a “Welcome to the Real World” simulation, participants will hang out in the Husky Den playing pool, bowling and eating pizza

After a good night’s rest in hotel rooms at the student center, the group will continue the next day at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building. Activities planned include a variety of breakout sessions, guest speaker Katie Pratt and packing food for local food pantries through Illini Fighting Hunger.

The cost for this event is $95 which includes meals, overnight accommodations, transportation, T-shirt and all activities. Financial assistance also is available.
