DeKalb man accused of sex abuse

DeKALB – A 25-year-old DeKalb man accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl remained in DeKalb County Jail on Friday, unable to post 10 percent of his $100,000 bond.

Hector Zarate Cervantes, of the 1200 block of State Street, was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in connection to alleged incidents in July and September, court records show. He is next due in court Nov. 1.

Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a felony typically punishable by up to seven years in prison.
