Sycamore's Ryan named Bears "Coach of the Week"

Sycamore football coach Joe Ryan was named the Chicago Bears High School “Coach of the Week” for Week 8.

Ryan led the Spartans to a 31-21 win over previously undefeated Kaneland on Oct. 18, snapping the Knight’s 35-game regular season winning streak. The win moved Sycamore to 8-0 on the season and put them in position to clinch the school’s first ever Northern Illinois Big 12 East Conference title with a win over Yorkville today.

Ryan will be invited to the Bears vs. Packers game on Sunday, December 29 and will be recognized during an on-field ceremony. He will also receive a framed certificate and attend a Bears practice and “chalk-talk” at Halas Hall with his fellow 2013 “Coach of the Week” honorees.

The Chicago Bears “Coach of the Week” program is in its 18th season and honors outstanding Illinois high school coaches who develop players’ football skills and knowledge, character, leadership, discipline and teamwork abilities.
