Pay-It-Forward House, Homestead team up for pie sale

Published: Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

The Glidden Homestead & Historical Center in DeKalb has partnered with Pay-It-Forward House in Sycamore for a Market Day pie fundraiser.

A portion of the cost of each pie, cake or cheesecake sold is returned to the two organizations to help pay operating costs. If 500 or more pies are sold, the groups will receive 45 percent of the pre-tax price.

“They are great products, help make our holidays a little less stressful, and allow us to give back to our community at the same time,” Pay-It-Forward House board member Kathy Overby said in a news release.

The two groups joined forces three years ago, making it easier to reach the 500-pie mark.

Pie orders are being taken through Nov. 14. Pies will be available for pickup from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at either the Glidden Homestead or at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.

There are 14 flavors of pie available. Order forms can be obtained by stopping by Pay-It-Forward House, 719 Somonauk St. in Sycamore, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday or Saturday. Order forms also can be requested by emailing info@payitforwardhouse.org or info@gliddenhomestead.org or by calling 815-762-4882 or 815-756-7904.
