PREP ROUNDUP: Barbs suffer first NI Big 12 East defeat

The DeKalb girls volleyball team suffered its first Northern Illinois Big 12 East loss of the season Tuesday, as Yorkville defeated the Barbs 25-17, 21-25, 21-25.

DeKalb is now 28-6 and 8-1 in conference play. Courtney Bemis had 16 kills for the Barbs, while Courtney Wagner had eight kills and Madison Lord finished with 33 assists. Nicole Schladt added 16 digs while Heather Bemis finished with eight blocks.

Paver leads Royals to Little Ten win: Hinckley-Big Rock’s Lauren Paver finished with nine kills, 10 aces and 10 digs in a 25-18, 25-20 win over Paw Paw.

Jacqueline Madden finished with eight kills for H-BR, while Anne Klein had eight digs and four blocks. Karrigan Cowan finished with three blocks for the Royals.

Knights lose in three: Rochelle defeated Kaneland 25-23, 15-25, 26-24.

Ellie Dunn had 10 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and three aces for the Knights.
