SYCAMORE – Business leaders still are exploring opening a Texas Roadhouse restaurant at the site of the old Johnny's Charhouse in Sycamore, local developer John Pappas said Wednesday.

"We have an agreement with them; we're still in the due diligence," Pappas said.

The Louisville, Ky.-based steakhouse chain has more than 400 locations in 48 states, with 12 Illinois locations, including Rockford, Naperville and Joliet. Leaders announced in July that Texas Roadhouse would open a Sycamore location in the spring; Johnny's Charhouse closed mid-May at 1950 DeKalb Ave.

Pappas said Wednesday that he did not have an exact date for when the restaurant would open, and that date is up to Texas Roadhouse officials.

Country Financial, an insurance and investments company, now occupies the back unit.
