DeKalb police: Man punched pregnant woman

DeKALB – A 27-year-old Chicago man accused of strangling a pregnant woman Sunday night remained in DeKalb County jail Monday unable to post 10 percent of his $75,000 bond, authorities said.

Jermaine A. Green, of the 600 block of South Kedvale Avenue, left a woman who is about 9 months pregnant with a swollen eyebrow and bloody lips about 11:10 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb police said in court documents. The woman told police Green punched her multiple times, forced her onto a bed and strangling her, court records show.

The incident happened at an apartment complex in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road; Green had been banned from the property before, court records show.

Green was charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery and criminal trespass to property. The most serious charge, aggravated battery, typically is punishable with between three and five years in prison.

Green is next due in court Nov. 12.
