The DeKalb boys soccer team completed a perfect season in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East with a 2-0 victory over Morris on Thursday.

Trevor Freeland and Akim Suraji each scored goals in the first half, both of which were assisted by Sean Woodford.

“Those happened in first four minutes of the game and we just kind of held on,” DeKalb coach Brent McIntosh said. “I’m tremendously proud of the boys of setting a very high goal of not only winning conference, but going undefeated.”

The Barbs end the regular season at 17-2, 10-0 in the NI Big 12 East. They will play Rockford Jefferson at home Wednesday in the Class 3A DeKalb Regional semifinals.

“Tonight was about the result, and we had to dig in a little bit in the second half to preserve the shutout, but I’m proud of the effort we put in to get 10 positive results in conference,” McIntosh said.
