Prep Roundup: Bullard leads H-BR soccer

The Hinckley-Big Rock boys soccer team defeated Indian Creek, 7-0, in the quarterfinals of the Little Ten tournament Monday.

Jack Bullard led the attack with two goals and an assist, and Eric Phillips also had two goals and an assist. Jared Ekle, Jeremy Perales and Cory Maercker also scored for the Royals (13-5-1).

Jason Bohannon recorded a shutout in net for H-BR.

VOLLEYBALL

H-BR edges Indian Creek: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Indian Creek, 25-23, 25-21, in the quarterfinals of the LTC tournament.

Anne Klein led the Royals with five aces, and Lauren Paver and Jacqueline Madden each had nine kills. Madden also added eight digs for the Royals.

Indian Creek (6-11) got 12 digs from Jackie Bouma and three kills from Emma Goodrich. Rebecca Boehne had seven assists.

GIRLS TENNIS

Sycamore edges Dixon: Sycamore defeated Dixon, 3-2, in its final dual match of the season.

Kathryn Sullivan and Alexa Farris won easily in straight sets in their singles matches while Alex Tritt and Dani Johnson combined for a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles for the Spartans (11-5).

Sycamore will compete in the Northern Illinois Big 12 tournament this weekend at Rochelle. 

Kaneland downs Mendota: Kaneland defeated Mendota, 3-2, in a nonconference dual match.

Sammie Schrepferman and Stephanie Zwick won easily in their singles matches. Kayla Shoaff and Mallory Dugan combined for a two-set win at No. 2 doubles for Kaneland’s final point.

GIRLS GOLF

T’wolves win final match: Indian Creek won its last tune-up before the postseason, garnering a 204-214 win over Plano at Indian Oaks.

Lauren Frances led the Timberwolves with a 44 while Samantha Bergstrand shot 49. Delaney Bend recorded a 55 and Katherine Nolan came in with a 56. 

Indian Creek will participate in the Class A Byron Regional at Prairie View Golf Course on Wednesday. 

SATURDAY’S LATE RESULTS

VOLLEYBALL

Sycamore wins Silver Division: Sycamore went 4-1 and won the Silver Division at the Sterling Volleyball Invite Saturday.

The Spartans defeated Rockford Jefferson and Morrison, but lost in three games to Wethersfield in pool play.

Sycamore then beat Newman and Dixon to win the Silver Division. The Spartans (11-8) host DeKalb on Thursday in their Volley for the Cure event.
