DeKALB – Special parking restrictions will be in effect from Wednesday through Monday for Northern Illinois University’s homecoming.

Parking will not be allowed on Greenbrier Road from 8 a.m. Wednesday through 8 a.m. Monday, while parking will be allowed on one side of Edgebrook and Kimberly drives, according to a news release.

No parking will be allowed between 2 and 6 a.m. in the neighborhoods west of Annie Glidden Road and north of Varsity Boulevard and Eco Park Drive. These are the streets affected: Varsity Boulevard, Regent Drive, Eco Park Drive, Fotis Drive, Aspen Court, Spiros Court, Pappas Drive and the 1100 through 1400 blocks of West Hillcrest Drive.

Vehicles parked illegally will be towed and impounded, the news release states. Tampering with or removing a temporary parking restriction sign is punishable with a minimum fine of $500, plus court costs.

DeKalb police also are encouraging NIU students to walk in groups in the Greek Row area and to avoid walking along Greenbrier Road, Russell Road and Crane Drive, as police have received a high level of calls from those areas.

For information, call DeKalb police at 815-748-8400.
