Prep roundup: Kaneland's Tori Guyton wins conference girls golf meet

Kaneland’s Tori Guyton won the Northern Illinois Big 12 Invitational with an 85 Tuesday at the par-66 Fairways Golf Course in Rochelle.

DeKalb sophomore Maggie Russell finished with an 88. The Barbs’ Maddie Hoth took 25th with a 116.

For Russell, a sophomore, it was her second consecutive time taking second at the meet.

“That’s pretty consistent. Last year she qualified from the regional to the sectionals, and this year, we’re hoping that she does that again,” DeKalb coach Chuck Schramm said. “... She’s already done well for us as a sophomore. We’re hoping that she can eventually continue and pass through the sectional.”
